Four Cheese Pizza
- BelGioioso Freshly Shredded Four Cheeses: Asiago, Fontina, Parmesan, and Provolone
- Homemade pizza sause
- Homemade pizza dough
It’s been almost two years since I made a four cheese pizza, and one year since I’ve eaten real dairy cheese. What a simple pizza recipe! The cheese combination was strong but tasty and went well with my homemade pizza sauce. I was so excited to eat my first real cheese pizza after a year without, that I only let the dough rise for 30 minutes when it really needs at least an hour. When it baked the crust didn’t get as fluffy as it usually does. Despite the slightly dry, flat crust it was a good pizza.

Spicy Meat Pizza
Andrew’s little brother has had a football game almost every Saturday this fall so he has been coming over for dinner on Sundays. Meat lovers pizzas are a perfect fit for Tyler’s big appetite.
I started with spicy Italian sausage and turkey pepperoni, a great combination on any pizza. I put banana peppers on a pizza for a the first time this spring and knew they would be a great compliment for this spicy pizza. Topped with my homemade pizza sauce, onions, and mozzarella cheese, this pizza was excellent and with Tyler as a guest there were no left-overs!

One of Andrew’s classmates and a Girl Loves Pizza follower visited us recently for dinner. I remember that Amanda made a comment on the Girl Loves Pizza Facebook page after I posted about my Virginia Ham Pizza. She said that one of her favorite pizzas is ham and pineapple, commonly known as a Hawaiian pizza.
I have never eaten nor prepared a Hawaiian pizza, so with Amanda coming for dinner I thought this was my time to try it. For this pizza, I made my first attempt at preparing my Uncle Al’s homemade pizza sauce. It was just as easy as he said and the few samples I took before spreading it on the dough tasted amazing! I also made my first attempt at slicing a whole pineapple. It wasn’t quite as easy as preparing the sauce, but the samples of this were delicious as well.
Andrew grilled the pineapple for a few minutes on each side, then I cut it into bite sized chunks. I diced ham into small pieces. After pre-baking the crust I spread on my homemade pizza sauce, sprinkled on mozzarella cheese, added the pineapple and ham and let it bake for 10 minutes.
I was a little nervous about using fruit on a pizza but the sweetness of the pineapple complimented the savory flavor of the sauce. This pizza was amazingly good! Amanda, a self proclaimed foodie, said my Hawaiian pizza was the best pizza she has ever had!

Fulmer Pie Pizza
I come from a long line of farmers and do-it-yourselfers, but somehow I have struggled with both skills. I am just learning how to garden and I have been known to purchase a lot of ingredients that my Uncle Al would just as soon make himself. Homemade pizza sauce is an ingredient that I have not yet attempted. While visiting my Uncle Al, he hand had some homemade sauce in the fridge ready to use for one our of three pizza creations.
To go along with the homemade sauce we pan cooked Italian sausage. We also included kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, sliced jalapenos and yellow peppers. After pre-baking the dough we slathered on the homemade sauce, laid on sharp provolone cheese, added all the veggies and sausage, then sprinkled on grated parmesan cheese. We let the pizza bake and then dug in.
So many flavors jumped off this pizza. I honed in on the homemade pizza sauce. Uncle Al’s sauce recipe is so good that I could eat it like soup! The rest of the pizza was amazing as well, from the sausage to the veggies and the cheeses. It only took one bite to for me to change my ways and commit to making pizza sauce for all my pizzas.
